The renovation of the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle is a landmark project, not only for its innovative and sustainable design and engineering, but also for the individuals working on-site.
As part of a celebration of Women in Construction week, Mortenson, which is the contractor on the arena build released a video featuring a number of women on the project. It includes heavy equipment operators, project managers, supervisors, and skilled tradeswomen discussing their roles and what it’s like to be working on the new NHL venue.
Designed by Populous, it will be built with US$1bn of private funding with Amazon and Oak View Group being key partners with the City of Seattle. The venue is set to be the world’s first zero-carbon arena when it opens in late 2021.
