The United Soccer League has selected SCG Fields as the league’s official team builder. The USL (which encompasses the second and third tier of soccer in the USA, the Premier Development League and the Super Y League) will now retain SCG as the official supplier for league properties.
A designer and installer of natural and synthetic turf surfaces, SCG has worked on venues across the NFL, MLB, NCAA and MLS. In a recent project, the company was announced as the provider for the Minnesota United FC’s new playing field.
“As USL continues to grow and with the 2019 launch of our new Division III league, we are adding new stadia and training grounds at an unprecedented rate,” said USL president Jake Edwards. “SCG joins a rapidly growing portfolio of preferred suppliers, and will be an excellent resource for our clubs to ensure that their fields are installed with the highest quality.”
“Everyone at our organization is proud to be partnering with United Soccer Leagues to enhance the entire organization, its teams and its players through our expertise in building quality playing surfaces,” added SCG chief operating officer Joseph Smith.
“Our goal at SCG fields is to deliver the best playing fields, on time and on budget, that will meet the needs of every participant so that all members of both organizations may be proud of this partnership. We look forward to a strong and prosperous relationship for many years to come.”
Over the next five years, the USL will oversee the expansion of an estimated 30-40 new franchises in the second and third tiers of professional soccer in the USA. The USL’s Preferred Supplier Program is designed to connect suppliers with both new franchise owners and existing USL clubs looking to deliver the best possible experience for fans.
Preferred suppliers must meet the USL’s quality standards. These are “Best in Class” companies that provide services and products to professional franchises and stadium developers. The USL is currently in discussions with suppliers that support stadium development, as well as the buildout of team front offices and operations.
