Construction work at Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium site in north London was forced to cease while police negotiated with a man threatening to jump from a crane, the Evening Standard reports.
A man gained access to the White Hart Lane site, where work continues on the English Premier League soccer team’s new stadium. Emergency services negotiated with the man, who had scaled one of the cranes, and all work on the 61,000-seat stadium was halted.
After 18 hours, the man climbed down from the construction crane, and was arrested for aggravated trespass. The new stadium – which is believed to cost around US$530m – will be completed in 2018.
