The Tamale Sports Stadium, a multipurpose, 20,000-seat venue in Tamale, Ghana, will be renamed in honor of Aliu Mahama, the former vice president of the country. The national government has taken the decision to rechristen the stadium Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, announcing the new name at an unveiling ceremony held over the weekend. The move also coincides with commemorations of the 5th anniversary of the death of Mahama.
