Las Vegas Sands Corporation chairman and CEO Sheldon Adelson has pledged his own personal fortune for the construction of a 65,000-seat domed football stadium in Nevada, reports the Las Vegas Review Journal.
After the board of directors turned down Adelson’s initial proposal for the venue earlier this year, he has promised to use around US$650m of his own money to kick-start the project – with little promise of a return on his investment. The pledge reinforces Adelson’s belief that the stadium project is a ‘must-have’ for extending Las Vegas’s tourist season.
