Daktronics has teamed up with the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center to install four new LED displays, three digital scorer’s tables and a new video production system at Barnett Arena, in Rapid City, South Dakota. The project, completed late in 2016, also included new show control equipment for the center’s ice arena.
“The Daktronics digital board upgrade represents the most significant upgrade to the Barnett Arena in recent history,” says Craig Baltzer, executive director of the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. “These new boards show our commitment to the fan experience with the highest level of quality entertainment.”
The largest installment will be the arena’s four new video displays featuring 10mm line spacing. Each of the displays measures approximately 11.5 x 15.5ft and provides variable content zoning that enables each to show one large image or multiple zoned images. These zones can display combinations of live video, instant replays, scoring information, up-to-the-minute statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsor advertisements.
The project also includes three digital scorer’s tables, each measuring 2ft high by 9ft wide. The total combined lengths of the scorer’s tables span a total 28ft. The tables can display game information while also highlighting sponsors during the variety of events that Barnett Arena hosts, such as rodeos, concerts and basketball tournaments.
Not only did the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center have equipment installed at Barnett Arena, but its ice arena also received a new Daktronics Show Control System. This system includes display control software, world-class video processing, data integration and playback hardware that provides a user-friendly experience.
“We are excited to continue our long-time partnership with the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center,” says Matt Warnke, Daktronics sales representative. “This display system upgrade will provide great flexibility for the venue and provide fans and patrons with an even better event experience. We look forward to being able to show this technology off at the upcoming State AA Combined Basketball Tournament.”
Rushmore Plaza Civic Center will also be receiving digital content from Daktronics Creative Services including any combination of sponsorship messages, crowd prompts, headshots, game opens or venue announcements at the request of the facility.
