AMB Group CEO Steve Cannon has posted images on Twitter that show the intricate roof at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the new home of the Atlanta Falcons, fully closed. The sliding roof panels – far more intricate than a retractable roof – interlock to close the stadium, much like a camera lens, and have been rumored to be behind delays to the stadium’s progress.
News that the complex roof mechanisms are fully working is a significant milestone in the stadium’s timeline, and should mean that a revised opening date (now set for August 26) is achievable.
