A survey commissioned by the Welsh Conservatives of 2,364 people has found that 97% of respondents feel modern stadium technology can make standing areas at soccer grounds safe.
The survey results also show that 96% would support a trial of rail seats, while 84% think safe standing areas would reduce the likelihood of conflict between stewards and fans.
Welsh Conservative leader Andrew RT Davies, who is calling for rail seats to be trialed, said: “This campaign boils down to two issues: the right for soccer fans to be treated the same as other sports fans, and the opportunity to trial an advance in safety methods which is well established on the continent.
“A pilot would be a sensible way to assess the evidence for reviewing the current all-seater policy.”
