English soccer club Plymouth Argyle has announced a redevelopment and expansion plan for the team’s grandstand at Home Park. The project will be largely financed by a £4.1m (US$5m) loan from the club’s director, Simon Hallett, and his wife.
In a club statement, Plymouth Argyle chairman James Brent explains that the project represents “a further important and exciting milestone for Argyle” and, in the official board comment on the project, added, “The re-development and expansion of the Grandstand and new Conference Centre will provide 21st century hospitality for our supporters and material additional revenues – match-day and non match-day – to invest into the club and team. We will increase the attendance capacity for today and preserve the ability to further increase in the future.”
