A new cricket stadium in Rwanda will be inaugurated in 2017, reports The New Times. The US$1.2m facility – located in Gahanga in Kigali’s Kicukiro District – will be completed ahead of schedule.
Construction began in June of 2016, and was expected to last two years. However, work on the first phase of the project is expected to be completed in March of 2017, with the ground then expected to open in October of the same year. Levelling of the ground has been completed, as has installation of water pipes. Laying of the turf, which was imported from South Africa, will begin in the next few days.
