English rugby union side London Irish could be ground sharing with soccer club Brentford FC at a new 20,000-seat stadium by 2019/2020, according to the Evening Standard. Plans for the new stadium, which would replace Brentford’s current Griffin Park Stadium, would mean that London Irish could end its agreement with Reading FC which sees the rugby side share the Championship soccer team’s Madejski Stadium.
The new stadium will be designed for both soccer and rugby, and will better suit London Irish as it will provide a home for the team in southwest London. Discussions regarding the ground share are ongoing.
