Hull City Football Club’s KC Stadium has been rated as providing the best away-fan experience in the English Premier League (EPL), according to the results of a survey conducted by the Football Supporters’ Federation.
Asked to rate their experience out of 10, traveling fans awarded the KC Stadium an average score of 7.79 – the highest in the EPL. Nationally, however, the venue was bettered by Football League Championship sides Wigan Athletic’s DW Stadium (7.83) and Derby County’s iPro Stadium (7.82).
The club’s board will likely see the results as a vindication of its decision to spend its Away Supporters Initiative (ASI) money on improving the away day experience at the KC Stadium, rather than putting it toward subsidizing travel for its own fans as other clubs have been known to do.
Investment into the away day experience at the KC Stadium includes improvements to the concourse, putting money into stewarding and increased funding into F&B outlets in the away end of the venue.
The Away Fans Survey asked supporters to rate the ground they visited on areas such as transport links, turnstiles, stadium layout, food and drink, sightlines, safety and security. It also looked at the reasons why supporters choose to attend certain away matches.
Among other teams ranked, Queens Park Rangers’ Loftus Road was rated 3.58 by traveling fans, while Crystal Palace’s Selhurst Park scored 4.94 and Liverpool’s Anfield completed the EPL’s bottom three with 5.32.
