The first modular seating elements are ready to be installed at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor City as construction progress continues to advance in preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Al Bayt Stadium stands now extend 128ft above ground. The modular design of the potential semi-final venue means that almost half the seating will be removed and transferred to soccer development projects around the world at the conclusion of the tournament.
Construction of the 60,000-seat stadium is fully underway – the modular seating makes up part of the first fix of approximately 2,500 seats at the north stand of the stadium.
The steel structure platforms for the modular seats are designed in Germany and manufactured in Italy, while the actual seats are designed and manufactured in Qatar. After the tournament, the stadium’s capacity will be reduced to approximately 32,000.
