The new Lentille stadium in Luxembourg will open in October 2019, confirmed the Luxembourg City mayor. As reported by Luxemburger Wort, the new stadium will be used for international soccer and rugby. The 9,385-seat stadium will cost US$63.5m, and will be located on Boulevard de Kockelscheuer in the Cloche d’Or district.
Preparation work on the site is due to begin in May 2017, with construction to follow in September of the same year. The stadium has been designed by Beng architects, and will feature a hybrid pitch, and include a complex drainage system.
It will also include roofed stands, VIP areas, kiosks, a business club, press rooms and a television studio, changing rooms, emergency services facilities, and a parking area offering around 200 spaces for officials, emergency vehicles and press (the parking area can also host outdoor events with a capacity of up to 15,000 people).
