City Stadium, home to Green Bay East High School football and the former home of the NFL’s Green Bay Packers, is to have a synthetic turf field installed in time for the autumn season.
Construction is scheduled to begin at the end of May, and should be completed in early August.
“It gives everybody access, not just football,” coach Brian Nast told The Green Bay Press Gazette. “Of course, we are going to play on it on Friday nights, but everybody gets access in the whole building.
“From physical education classes to soccer, boys and girls. It creates an excitement in the building that they have got this thing out there that is just like the West De Peres and Ashwaubenons and the (Green Bay) Notre Dames. Something that is exactly like what they have if not newer and better.
“That builds an excitement in the school community. We are definitely going to ride that tidal wave next year.”
