Championship soccer team Nottingham Forest FC has had the capacity of its City Ground stadium reduced by 20% by the city council, bringing the ground’s official fan occupancy to less than 25,000, reports the BBC.
The stadium’s capacity was briefly reduced to zero earlier this month when it emerged that the ground did not have a safety certificate holder – an individual identified with holding the specific role is a requirement for sports clubs.
In a club statement, Nottingham Forest has committed to addressing outstanding council concerns in the coming weeks, with a view to restoring the ground’s capacity back to the original 30,445 figure.
