UEFA has confirmed that the Football Association of Wales (FAW) has been successful in its bid for Cardiff to host the 2017 UEFA Champions League Final. The match will be played at Cardiff’s 74,154-capacity Millennium Stadium on Saturday June 3, 2017.
Roger Lewis, group chief executive of Welsh Rugby Union, owner of the Millennium Stadium, said, “The Millennium Stadium is one of Europe’s great sporting arenas and I am confident it will provide a fitting stage for the 2017 UEFA Champions League Final.
“The stadium’s atmosphere is revered by players, spectators and event organizers, and the Millennium Stadium looks forward to working with the FAW and UEFA to deliver a first-class event.”
It was also confirmed that the 2017 UEFA Women’s Champions League Final will be played at Cardiff City Stadium on Thursday June 1, 2017.
