UK specialist sports industry contractor MJ Abbott will be exhibiting at Saltex 2016, showcasing case studies where the company has constructed and renovated SIS Grass hybrid-turf pitches at a number of top sports facilities.
Major projects have been completed at The FA’s St George’s Park, Chelsea Football Club’s Cobham training ground and at Hull City Football Club, where eight SIS Grass pitches have been installed.
The completed works have been highly praised at all three venues for the durability and performance of the pitches. Chelsea Football Club was particularly impressed with its match pitch, which was the first to be done on the site. The performance during the first season of use and second, after a renovation by Premier Pitches, was the catalyst for a further four SIS Grass pitches to be installed on the site.
Work has also been carried out at Paris St Germain Football Club’s training center, with the reconstruction of two natural turf pitches and the renovation of the match pitch by Premier Pitches.
Pitch reconstructions have only been a fraction of the company’s projects this year, as outfield drainage work was installed at Somerset County Cricket Club’s County Ground in Taunton, in the UK, and major irrigation and landscaping works carried out at the American Battle Monuments Commission cemetery in Woking, a project the company was especially proud to be a part of.
Golf has also featured heavily on the works calendar, with drainage installation and reconstruction of the West Course at Wentworth Club, drainage and irrigation at Adare Manor Hotel and Golf Resort in Limerick, and irrigation works at Royal Portrush in preparation for the 2019 Open Championship.
