From the 2019 NFL season the Chicago Bears will operate mobile-only ticket entry at Soldier Field with printed tickets no longer issued.
Season ticket holders or single-game buyers will be required to use their mobile phones to gain access to games this coming season as the move to digital aims to reduce fraud and also offer enhanced customer experiences.
Ticket purchasers will be able to manage their tickets on their mobile device or online, and will be able to share tickets with guests, donate tickets or post tickets for resale.
The Bears join a number of teams who have already made the move to mobile ticketing, where venues have either installed scanners or provided staff with handheld devices at stadium entry to check tickets.
Not only can mobile ticketing help prevent ticket fraud, the move to mobile devices has untapped potential as it opens up new revenue streams for clubs, and enables venue operators to use apps to monitor crowd control to distribute queues for safety and speed of entry.
