A wall collapsed at the Demba Diop stadium in Senegal, West Africa, killing eight people, reports the BBC.
Nearly 90 additional people were injured during the collapse, which took place following fighting between rival soccer fans. Police responded with tear gas, leading to a stampede of spectators. Stade de Mbour were playing Union Sportive Ouakam in the league cup final in the capital city of Dakar.
Concerns had been raised over the condition of the stadium. Senegal has subsequently suspended all sporting and cultural events for the remainder of the month. The BBC also reports that a government inquiry is due to be held.
