English Premier League soccer side Tottenham Hotspur has revealed that it will increase the capacity of its new state-of-the-art home stadium to 62,214.
The club has announced that it has had an application accepted from Haringey Council to expand capacity at the US$1.1bn stadium, which just opened in August this year, from 62,062 and add a further 152 seats.
A statement on the club’s website reads: “We are pleased to confirm that Haringey Council has approved our application to increase the official capacity of our new stadium to 62,214.
This follows a detailed review of the stadium seating bowl during the summer months in conjunction with Building Control, which has allowed us to add a small number of additional seats in the North and South stands.”
The 62,214 capacity further bolsters its status as the highest-capacity soccer club stadium in London and second highest in the Premier League.
