The NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs has announced that it will be adding a Drum Deck at its Arrowhead Stadium home.
Already regarded as one of the league’s loudest and most raucous stadiums, the 76,416-seater venue is set to ramp up the noise with a dedicated area for the team’s official drum, which is traditionally banged on the field before games.
The new feature is a special section in the upper deck called the Drum Deck, located around section 335 and will house the famous drum to get fans pumped up.
The creation of the Drum Deck comes as the Chiefs celebrate their 60th season and is part of the stadium’s first major refurbishment in over a decade, with a new display, seating and weatherproofing planned before the start of the 2019 season.
Its entire upper-deck will undergo a re-application of waterproofing, which will require the removal of every seat in the upper section. During the process, it will protect the enclosed space below on the Club Level and maintain the structural integrity of the concrete. New seats will be installed, which will feature cup holders.
