Daktronics has been asked by St John’s University, in Queens, New York, to design, manufacture and install two new LED video displays inside Carnesecca Arena. The displays are the highest resolution end wall displays and the third largest displays Daktronics has installed in a college basketball venue to feature a tight 6mm line spacing. The upgrades were installed this autumn.
“We are thrilled to partner with Daktronics and IMG to upgrade Carnesecca Arena with digital displays that rival the best in the country for a collegiate sports arena,” said St John’s senior associate athletics director, John Diffley. “The new video display system will certainly enhance the game-day atmosphere and fan experience at an arena with great tradition.”
The displays are placed on opposite ends of the facility to provide great views to all seats within the arena. Each display measures approximately 14.5ft high and 35ft wide and includes 6mm line spacing for superior image clarity and contrast.
The displays are capable of variable content zoning which allows them to show one large image across each display or each display can be separated into multiple zones. These zones can then show any combination of live video, instant replays, scoring and statistic information, animations and graphics, and sponsorship messages.
“We’re excited to bring this installation to St John’s University and build upon our more-than-20-year partnership,” said Scott Willson, Daktronics sale representative.
“These end wall displays bring a game-changing experience to their game-day productions at every event. We’re looking forward to seeing these displays live in action this season.”
