North Carolina Central University (NCCU) turned to Daktronics for new LED video display technology at McDougald-McLendon Arena on campus in Durham, North Carolina. The new four-sided centerhung display system is slated for installation later on this fall and will be impacting Eagles basketball fans by 2016.
“We are extremely excited about our continued relationship with Daktronics to address our video scoreboard needs,” says NCCU director of athletics Ingrid Wicker-McCree. “This will definitely enhance our ability to showcase our students and deliver the best fan experiences. Daktronics has been great to work with and we know the end product will be of high quality and service.”
Each of the four LED video displays in the centerhung system measure more than 7ft high by 12ft wide. Each display features 10mm line spacing for crisp, clear imagery with wide angle visibility that can be enjoyed from every seat in the arena.
All of these displays feature variable content zoning which allows them to show one large image or to be divided into multiple smaller window to show any combination of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsor messages.
“We’re excited to partner with NCCU on this technological upgrade for their newly named McDougald-McLendon Arena,” said Corey Williams, Daktronics sales representative. “We know this installation will improve Eagles’ fans experiences at basketball games and other events held in the arena. We’re looking forward to seeing the completed project in action near the end of 2015.”
Four fixed-digit scoreboards are included with the installation. These will each measure approximately 2.5ft high by 13ft wide to provide the standard game and scoring information that fans crave including period, time remaining, team scores, time outs remaining and possession arrow information. These displays will be installed directly below the video displays in the centerhung configuration for all fans to see.
