Morgan State University has selected Daktronics to design, manufacture and install new LED video displays and an audio system at their athletic facilities on campus in Baltimore, Maryland. Installation is scheduled for late summer, with a plan to have facilities ready to entertain Bears fans in the autumn.
“We are excited to continue our longstanding partnership with Daktronics in order to enhance the game-day atmosphere at our athletic events,” said Morgan State University director of athletics Edward Scott.
“This project is the centerpiece of the facility enhancements that have taken place since my arrival in November. Our goal is to provide our student-athletes and fans with the first-class experience they deserve while assisting our coaches in their recruiting efforts.”
The new end zone display at Hughes Stadium will measure 24ft high by 30ft wide, featuring 15HD pixel layout for exceptional image quality and contrast, with wide angle visibility bringing a great view and exciting experience to fans in every seat.
The two new end wall displays inside Talmadge L Hill Field House will measure approximately 9.5ft high by 16.5ft wide and feature 10mm line spacing for crisp, clear imagery during Bears basketball, volleyball and other events.
These main video displays will feature variable content zoning which enables them each to show one large image or to be divided into multiple zones to show any variety of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.
“We’re excited to be a part of the video and audio upgrades at Hughes Stadium,” said Charley Bocklet, Daktronics regional manager. “The installation is designed to optimize fan engagement and bring a fresh look to the facilities.
“We’re sure the fans are going to love the large enhancement this brings to the stadium and the games. The video and LED scorer’s tables being installed at Hill Field House will change that venue completely as well.
“The Daktronics team looks forward to bringing both of these venues to life. Scott and his staff at Morgan State have been a pleasure to work with and are committed to the fan experience.”
A Sportsound 2000HD audio system will be integrated into the video and scoring system to provide full-range sound reproduction while delivering clear and intelligible speech for a powerful audio experience for Bears fans.
Four LED scorer’s tables are included with the installation. They can be connected in any configuration to bring additional statistics and sponsorship opportunities to every event. Each display measures roughly 2ft high by 9.5ft high and features 10mm line spacing.
Additionally, a fixed digit scoreboard will be installed at the arena to bring all the standard statistics and timing that fans expect at every event.
