The University of Nebraska Board of Regents has approved US$6.25m of funds to replace the screens at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, reports the Lincoln Journal Star.
The screens, which light up the stadium and show replays and advertising will be replaced at the end of the football season. The replacement scheme, put forward by Husker Athletics, was unanimously approved, with funds to come entirely from athletic department revenues.
Installed in 2006, replacement parts for the stadium’s current screens are no longer available.
The primary new HD screen will measure 117 x 33ft, while four smaller screens will be located in the corners of the stadium, with ribbon boards stretching across the east and west stadium decks.
