Daktronics has partnered with Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium to design, manufacture and install two new HD LED video displays and an additional auxiliary display for the multipurpose facility in Al-Ardiya, Kuwait. The recently completed project is set to provide 1,453ft2 of video entertainment for football matches and other athletic events when the venue opens on December 18.
“The new Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium screens are of the most important, the best and the latest external displays to international courts at all levels of the Arabian Gulf and the Middle East area,” said Ibrahim Ashkanani, Amiri Diwan project manager.
“These new screens, with other integrated high technologies, are to become the new focus and enjoyment points, and will definitely fascinate the fans and audiences in every game inside Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium.”
The two main displays each measure 29ft high by 50ft wide and are the first in the Middle East to feature 10mm line spacing using SMD 3-in-1 LED technology. The auxiliary display measures 13.2ft high by 22.8ft wide and features a 15HD pixel layout. These displays incorporate industry-leading environmental protection while providing excellent image clarity and contract with wide-angle visibility for a great view from every seat in the stadium.
Speaking about the installation, founder and CEO of IT solutions provider Smartentity, Chadi Kfoury, said, “This project was quite challenging with the extremely tight time schedule, the tilted and hanger suspended structure from the tensioned roof cables, and the many different technologies to be integrated with the screens. Our partnership with Daktronics for this project allowed us to overcome all these challenges and provide our customer the best solution – a perfect resolution with HD formats, super-wide viewing angles, and the capability of variable content zoning. With the new high-tech flourishing in this project along with HD screens, we had set out Jaber Al-Ahmed International Stadium to be at the top of lists in the region.”
Variable content zoning allows the displays to show one large image or to be divided into different sections to show any variety of live video, instant replay, statistics, game information, animations and sponsorship messages. The installation features a complete primary and backup system to ensure optimal operations during any event.
“Jaber Al-Ahmad was keen to have the latest and greatest LED display system for their venue,” said Ahmad Dahmash, Daktronics regional manager. “Daktronics is proud to supply them with the largest SMD LED displays in a sports application in the region.”
Daktronics will also be including its powerful Show Control System with this installation. This industry-leading system provides a combination of display control software, world-class video processing, data integration and playback hardware that forms a user-friendly production solution.
