The Paisley 2021 Stadium, home to Scottish soccer side St Mirren FC, has revealed its new players’ tunnel area, which has been designed by its fans.
As part of an initiative following the club’s promotion to the Scottish Premier League, St Mirren chairman Gordon Scott asked fans to submit design ideas for the tunnel, and the chosen suggestion was fitted throughout.
“We want supporters to send in their suggestions for the wall. Whether it be iconic moments, matches or players, we want you to let us know what you’d like to see on the tunnel wall,” said Scott.
The winning design documents the story of the Saints from their origins in 1877, featuring historic victories and inspirational players past and present, top goal scorers and the club crest, over a matte grey and black paisley pattern.
The wall panels were created in collaboration with laminate suppliers Formic Group, Gate Creative and Rearo, and were digitally rendered to enable any design to be displayed. The material used was chosen due to its hardwearing, easy-to-clean properties.
