The University of Utah is moving forward with an investment in upgrading the bathrooms at Rice-Eccles Stadium, home of the Pacific-12 Conference’s Utah Utes college American football team, with trustees approving a US$3.3m plan to add more men’s restrooms in the north end zone.
Utah athletic director Chris Hill revealed that 88 new men’s toilets and 45 new sinks are expected to be in place for Utah’s season opener against Michigan on September 3. In addition to 5,000ft2 of new restroom space, the project will add 7,350ft of walking space on the north concourse and is also expected to improve congestion around concessions in the case of an emergency.
Auxiliary Services will fund the construction, while fees collected from season ticket buyers will go toward other stadium improvements.
