English Premier League club West Ham United FC has updated fans on the progress of the team’s new stadium – the former London 2012 Olympic Stadium – ahead of the beginning of the 2016/2017 soccer season. In a statement on the club’s website, the team revealed that the seating pattern in the newly-configured East Stand is nearing completion, with the first home game mere weeks away.
The ‘West Ham’ detailing of the East Stand, which will house well in excess of 20,000 fans on a match day, is nearly complete. Beneath the wording will be the club’s iconic crossed hammers insignia, detailed in the club colors of claret and blue.
The ground is still officially titled the London Stadium, though many fans have already taken to referring to the ground as the ‘Olympic Stadium’. Reports from earlier in the year suggested that a naming rights deal with Mahindra was imminent, however the club has yet to confirm any such agreement.
