The Washington DC government has officially transferred the property on which DC United will build a soccer-specific stadium as the club looks to move into a new home in 2018.
The news of the handover to DC United was first reported last week by The Washington Post’s Steven Goff and the story was then covered by the MLS’s website.
According to Goff, the club, which will next participate in a DC Zoning Commission meeting in November, is aiming to break ground on the 19,000-seat stadium in January or February 2017 with a construction timeline of 14-16 months.
