Tottenham Hotspur FC reportedly plans to play its first home fixture at its new stadium on December 15, against English Premier League opponents Burnley.
The rollercoaster ride of the club’s US$1.1bn dollar build of the state-of-the-art venue – which originally had an opening date of September 15 – was recently rocked further by revelations that it could be open as late as early 2019 as a result of construction issues.
However, recent construction progress, which has seen its turf and goalposts installed, has given fans some optimism that the team might be moved in sooner and this has been backed up in a report in The Telegraph that claims the club is targeting the Burnley match for its opening date, but that should any further delay occur it could be pushed back to a Boxing Day fixture on December 26 against Bournemouth FC.
Tottenham FC manager Mauricio Pochettino reveled in a press conference that he had been told in a conversation with owner Daniel Levy that the club is confident they will be moved in before 2019 and are “working hard” to be in before Christmas.
