Major League Soccer’s newest expansion team, Nashville SC, will play its home games at Nissan Stadium when it joins the league in 2020.
While the club awaits its new 30,500-seater stadium to finish construction by 2021 it will temporarily groundshare with the NFL’s Tennessee Titans at the 69,143-seater Nissan Stadium.
Team owner Ian Ayre, the former CEO of English Premier League soccer side Liverpool FC, announced the plans to play at the Nissan Stadium have been confirmed by the league.
“We’re very happy to start over there, start our journey and then, once our own home’s ready, we’ll move in,” Ayre said.
“In terms of this city, [Nissan Stadium] ticks all the boxes that we would need for that interim solution: good stadium, good facilities, good capacity. We’re just excited to get going.”
