The Las Vegas Sands Corporation (LVSC) has announced it will lead a consortium of investors in the construction of a US$1bn stadium on a 42-acre site near the University of Nevada, according to a report from Construction Equipment.
Though the new venue remains at the concept stage, it could house the school’s football team, though the possibility of an NFL franchise has also been raised.
A number of outlets, including The Las Vegas Review Journal have also reported that Mark Davis, owner of the NFL team the Oakland Raiders, is scheduled to meet with representatives of LVSC to discuss the possibility of the new venue playing host to the Raiders – the team recently had its bid to relocate to Los Angeles rejected.
The Review Journal also reports that Andy Abboud, Las Vegas Sands’ senior vice president of government relations and community development, has had discussions with representatives from other NFL teams.
