The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA) has announced the pouring of the last vertical concrete column on the site of the Minnesota Vikings’ new stadium.
The MSFA says that over the last 16 months, 10,000 trucks have poured more than 1,200 concrete columns, each carrying 10 cubic yards of concrete.
“The columns are made up of 17,597 cubic yards of concrete,” the MSFA said. “If put end to end, the columns would be 5.3 miles long. The stadium project will use more than 100,000 cubic yards of concrete by the time it is finished.”
The Vikings’ stadium is scheduled to open in July 2016.
