Perhaps inspired by the media attention garnered by a recent public vote to name a polar research vessel – though the winning entry, Boaty McBoatface, did not end up adorning the vessel in question – soccer club Reading FC has invited fans to choose the name of the Madejski Stadium’s North Stand. Supporters have until June 10 to submit entries.
The move forms part of the club’s wider strategy to engage with its fans. Reading FC, which plays its home games at the 24,160-seat Madejski Stadium, currently competes in the second tier of English soccer. The stadium’s other tenants, rugby union team London Irish, currently competes in the second tier of the national league.
