Construction work on Orlando City SC’s new stadium is set to enter the next stage as the venue’s underground drainage system nears completion – paving the way for above-ground construction on the new stadium to begin.
“People will be able to see progress on a daily basis once we go vertical,” venue manager Scott Neal told MLSsoccer.com. “The really complex part has been in all the underground construction, but we have made good headway with that and will be ready for the next phase shortly.”
Construction of storm drain infrastructure up to 34ft below ground level has taken a considerable amount of time, but the hope is that more visible work will now begin to be undertaken.
The next major milestone for the project will take place in January 2016, when upper-level construction will begin. Completion of the new stadium is still scheduled for the autumn of 2016.
