Warwickshire County Cricket Club has secured a new commercial partnership with Birmingham Airport for the next two years.
Following on from Edgbaston’s successful hosting of the ICC Champions Trophy, Birmingham Airport in the UK will take perimeter branding in the stadium bowl, which will be on display for England’s inaugural Day/Night Investec Test Match against West Indies, in August this year, and the Test against India in 2018.
Birmingham Airport branding will also be displayed on the back of the playing shirt worn by Birmingham Bears in the NatWest T20 Blast season, which gets underway on Friday, July 7. In addition, the activation includes hospitality and ticketing for major match days during the term of the partnership.
Gareth Roberts, commercial director of Warwickshire CCC, said, “Birmingham Airport is one of the most recognizable brands in the Midlands and we’re thrilled to secure this new partnership and work together over the next two years.
“We worked closely with Birmingham Airport staff in the run up to the ICC Champions Trophy and it was great to host them at several of the games. With Edgbaston set to host its biggest ever programs of international cricket over the next two years, we’re delighted to establish a commercial opportunity for both parties.”
“Edgbaston is a very important and special venue in Birmingham, that’s home to some of the world’s major cricket tournaments so from one local brand that has global reach to another, we feel that this partnership is a perfect fit,” added David Winstanley, chief operating officer of Birmingham Airport.
“We’re therefore very proud to be able to be associated with Warwickshire County Cricket Club, Edgbaston and The Birmingham Bears, and we look forward to sharing a successful two-year partnership with cricket fans across the world.”
