At the 2019 Stadium Awards, Australian firm Cox Architecture took home three awards for projects across six categories.
It was the winner of Australia’s Best Stadium for Optus Stadium, while also winning Best Cricket Stadium for Adelaide Oval, and Best NRL Stadium for AAMI Park.
The awards, held by Australian Stadiums and Sport, saw Optus Stadium win this year’s Australia’s Best Stadium, where it came in second to Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2018. Optus Stadium in Perth, Western Australia, was officially opened in 2018, with a design that focuses on a fan-first approach and incorporates the latest in technology. It is a multi-purpose venue that is used for AFL, cricket, soccer, rugby and entertainment.
Other categories included in this year’s awards were Best Regional Stadium, which GMHBA Stadium won, and Best Indoor Arena, which was awarded to the Rod Laver Arena.
