Major League Soccer expansion team Austin FC has revealed new images of its upcoming stadium as it prepares for life in professional soccer in 2021.
Fans can start to get excited of what to expect when the Gensler designed, 20,500-seater venue opens with images showing the soccer-specific stadium’s fan zone areas with food and drink offerings, as well as some of its premium spaces.
The stadium, which will be built in the city’s McKalla Place neighborhood, has entertainment spaces that are said to reflect Austin’s culture and “love of indoor/outdoor spaces”. It features a number of outdoor supports’ bars, which will also be able to put on live music during gamedays.
Elsewhere, its premium West Terrace Porch is an open-sided bar that has views over the field from its penthouse-level position. This will join the premium Field Club, which a lounge for VIPs placed next to the players’ tunnel that offers unrivaled access to see the players as they enter and return from the pitch.
The stadium is being designed by Gensler, who also delivered other MLS venues such as LAFC’s Banc of California Stadium and Minnesota United’s Allianz Field. Austin FC’s venue will be open-air and feature a canopy roof to protect fans from the sun, as well as a tight footprint with a steep seating bowl, and a single-tier supporters’ section to accommodate approximately 3,400 fans.
The stadium is expected to break ground in September this year.
