The new issue of Stadia magazine features an in-depth look at the design and construction of Mercedes-Benz Stadium, new home to the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United FC.
In recent weeks, we’ve heard a little more from some of the partners involved in the innovative stadium project, and this week, Crown Corr VP, senior project executive Steve Crawford offers up an insight into his company’s role in the venue.
What were some of the most challenging aspects of working on the Mercedes-Benz Stadium project?
The unique geometry and sloping surfaces of the skin combined with the overall height of the stadium created challenges with access to work areas. Many of which were overcome with the use of custom rigging and crane man-baskets.
What unique capabilities did Crown Corr bring to the project that make this stadium what it is today?
Our ability to in-house design, engineer and fabricate the back-up support framing for the metal panels on this project played a key role in meeting the strict tolerance requirements of the enclosure systems.
