As well as being home to spring training for Major League Baseball teams the Miami Marlins and St Louis Cardinals, the stadium also hosts games of their Class A Affiliate teams, and numerous community functions year round.
V Starr Interiors, which was founded by Williams in 2002 and also based in Florida, had previously only worked with commercial and residential clients such as InterContinental Hotels and Midtown Athletic Club. When Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium turned to V Starr to outfit its luxury suites, it marked its first design in sports, however its principal and CEO, Williams is no stranger to sports facilities and was able to translate her experience to the project.
“I’ve spent a lot of time over the years in athletic facilities, and I always imagined how I would add my own personal touch to their design,” said Williams. “I finally get to use this experience in a stadium that is close to home.”
Drawing inspiration from the two MLB teams that train at the venue, V Starr used a neutral color palette with elements such as photography of both teams to decorate the walls for the full redesign.
Cort furniture supported the renovation with furnishings for the stadium’s opening day, while all of the cabinetry, tables, finishes, and flooring were custom made for the suites with the needs of its high traffic areas in mind. The balconies feature modern highball tables for a flexible game experience, where families can eat, chat, or stand to watch training in the clean and airy suites.
