As Los Angeles FC finally cuts the ribbon on its new Banc of California Stadium, players have been settling in at its brand-new training center, and Stadia has a selection of images to share of what’s inside the impressive, modern facility.
Built on the campus of Cal State LA, the Los Angeles FC (LAFC) Performance Center officially opened its doors at the beginning of April and has been a huge hit with its players and staff.
The US$30m investment is in addition to a US$1.6m partnership with the university, which will be used to renovate existing facilities around campus and create a new master’s program to give students hands-on experience with the club.
Complete with gold-winged accents of the club’s crest, floor-to-ceiling windows, and an open floor plan, the new 30,000ft² (2,790m²) LAFC training facility houses coaches and technical staff offices that overlook the training pitch, medical facilities, player dining, and an airy weight room with large glass doors that open up for outdoor workouts in the LA sunshine.
For head coach Bob Bradley, the facility’s design is another testament to the club’s owner’s commitment to “doing things the right way”.
“To have a professional place where we come every day, where the field is perfect, where inside the building players can interact, we can work, we can look at video, we are so fortunate to be able now to come here every day. We’re very excited to be here,” he said.
Looking ahead, Bradley also hopes that the facility will attract world-class talent: “When you are looking around the world to attract players, they want to go into a situation where they can improve, where they can be a part of something that is special. And we’re in the early moments here, but I think the starting points are fantastic.”
The training facility is part of a much larger expansion at LAFC – the club’s new Banc of California Stadium will host its first home game on April 29.
