As David Beckham’s Inter Miami FC prepares for its first season in Major League Soccer in 2020, the team has released the latest video to show off what its 26,000 soccer stadium and 131-acre complex will look like.
While plenty of work is still to be done at the site of its home stadium, located on the Melreese Golf Course, next to Miami airport, its architects Arquitectonica and HOK have revealed a teaser of what’s to come.
The 100% privately funded complex will incorporate one of the City’s largest public parks, Inter Miami CF’s 26,000 seat MLS stadium, 11 fútbol fields for the community, a tech hub, hotel, shops, and restaurants.
But the fun doesn’t end there. In the video, it shows hospitality offerings situated around the stadium’s field and even includes a rooftop bar terrace that looks over the action. Big screens are seen throughout the design, both inside the bowl and outside for public plazas and communal areas.
With an estimated completion date of 2020, the complex is said to cost in the region of US$996m and is expected to generate more than US$40m in annual tax revenue for the city.
While the team is set to enter the league next year, it will play its home games at a renovated Lockhart Stadium, where Miami’s last soccer team, Miami Fusion played until 2001.
