Following a successful 2017 NFL season that saw the Jacksonville Jaguars win an AFC South Division Championship and post three consecutive sell-out games at EverBank Field, the team has announced that it will remove all seating tarps for the 2018 season.
The removal of the tarps from seats in the upper deck will free-up an additional 3,501 low-priced seating options, making it the first time since 2005 that seats will be sold across the entirety of the stadium.
“Getting rid of the tarps has been our goal since Shad Khan purchased the team in 2012. Given the strength of our home schedule and the enthusiasm from the community, we will move forward without the tarps in 2018,” said Jaguars President Mark Lamping in a statement.
“Our fans created a real home field advantage for our final 2017 regular season games and home playoff appearance. We want to make sure that same home field advantage is a reality every time the Jaguars take the field this fall by giving fans access to even more affordable tickets. Season tickets in these newly opened areas will be priced at US$45 per game.”
The demand for Jaguars tickets have skyrocketed following a campaign that saw the team win its first home playoff game since 1999, with 5,000 fans already placing deposits for the upcoming season compared to only 700 the same time last year.
“Momentum started building during our last three home games and really took off during our postseason appearances,” said Chad Johnson, senior vice president of sales and service and chief content officer.
“Based on the enthusiasm we’ve experienced, I don’t anticipate any lower bowl seats to be available by the time single game tickets go on sale later this year.”
The additional seating will pack in extra fans for seven home games against exciting opposition: the New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets and Washington Redskins. The Jaguars will play one home game in London, UK, as part of the International Series.
As well as announcing the extra seating options, the team has unveiled new lower pricing for fan favorite food and beverage items including hot dogs, pretzels, nachos and sodas at US$5 throughout the stadium.
