Having been a base for two Munich clubs for 12 years, the stadium is now home to FC Bayern alone – to reflect this, a revamp has been scheduled for the coming months.
Plans for the facelift were made public last November, and club management and the Bayern München supervisory board have spent the months since reviewing dozens of draft designs from Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron.
The preferred design will be in place by May, when the club hopes that ‘Allianz Arena 2.0’ will be a truly Bayern facility. The predominant colors in the new-look stadium will be red and white – the club’s colors – and its name, crest and slogan (‘Mia San Mia’, loosely translated as ‘We are who we are’) will be highlighted across the seating areas.
The revamp also means an opportunity for season ticket holders to buy the seats slated for removal.
