China’s Football Association has unveiled a long-term soccer development plan for the country which calls for at least 20,000 training facilities and 70,000 pitches by 2020.
The announcement is part of a plan to make China a soccer ‘superpower’ by 2050. President Xi Jinping has stated that he wants China to win the FIFA World Cup within the next 15 years. The structured expansion of China’s soccer infrastructure will ensure that there is one pitch per 10,000 people by 2030.
