Public house operator and brewer Marston’s and Warwickshire County Cricket Club have signed a new deal to continue their long-standing partnership through a 20-year tenure, with a seven-year extension running at the club’s Edgbaston ground until 2023.
The new agreement is one of the biggest official beer and supply partnerships in UK cricket and is worth more than seven figures. Marston’s has been involved in supporting local, regional, county and national team cricket since the late 1990s, with the partnership with Warwickshire CCC now one of the longest-standing beer sponsorship deals in sport.
Part of the new agreement will see the development of the Moseley Arms Real Ale bar in the stadium’s RES Wyatt Stand, with spectators now able to enjoy a range of crafted beers at Edgbaston’s biggest matches.
Neil Snowball, chief executive of Warwickshire CCC, said, “Marston’s has been part of the Edgbaston family for many years and it’s fantastic to secure a long-term extension to our partnership so that we can continue offering its famous ales to our loyal supporters and visiting fans from around the world.
“Edgbaston is hosting 35 major match cricket days until the end of 2019, with an Investec Test Match each summer, including England versus India in 2018 and England versus Australia in the Ashes in 2019. We’re thrilled that Marston’s will be part of one of the biggest periods in the stadium’s history.”
Marston’s CEO Ralph Findlay added “We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with Edgbaston, which has become a key part of our association with cricket and sport as a whole across our business. This new deal extends our association to beyond 20 years, something that both parties are particularly proud of and we look forward to watching the venue, clubs and its team continue to grow as cricket opens up to new audiences and supporters – who we hope might enjoy a pint or two at this great ground.”
