Dutch soccer club FC Groningen has announced details of a pilot scheme to implement facial recognition software at its Noordlease Stadium, reports Computer Business Review.
The installation will involve four Panasonic HD cameras located at the stadium turnstiles. Images of fans will be sent to the stadium control room, where they will be compared with a database of banned supporters. A warning will be triggered if a match is detected, alerting security personnel to step in.
