The cost of the Detroit Red Wings’ new arena, Little Caesars Arena, has jumped by US$105m to close to US$733m, reports Yahoo Sports. The news site quotes city officials as revealing that the price hike reflects costs of materials, permits, design refinements and subcontractor agreements. However, the increase does not indicate financial overruns, nor will it result in greater expense for taxpayers.
Work on the NHL’s new home began in 2015 and the arena is scheduled to open in the autumn of 2017.
